Belgium

Well it's been almost a week of visiting Belgium. I've had a fun time touring around. Unfortunately Marty had to work long hours and wasn't able to do much site seeing with me but we did get to spend evenings together and sample the Belgium food.

There are lots of nice stews with very rich sauces and lots of nice chocolates. The belgian waffles were very sugary and tasty. The pancakes were yummy. Of course this place is know for it's 500 different brewed beers. I got to sip a few. My favorite was the cherry beer (yum). Too bad I couldn't partake in lots but I survived!

A few things that I did learn. A free restroom visit is rare. They charge .30 to .40 euro per trip which is close to 45 or 50 cents per visit (yikes). There is no such thing as a refill on soda. You get a small 10 oz bottle for the whole meal unless you order another. They are not as visa happy here so cash is a must if you want snacks or to pay entrance fees to museums. When ordering water you need to make sure you request still water or you get carbonated water (yuk!).

I took a few photos as you can see. The places were just beautiful and significantly older than what you see in the U.S. There were many cobblestone streets, lots of canals, lots of beautiful churches, tons of sculptures, and just a lot of neat looking buildings.

Hope you enjoy the show :)

Passed all tests so far

We can breathe easier for now. I passed all the initial screening tests. My blood sugar did come back high but I passed a lengthier glucose tolerance test where I was fasting beforehand.

My levels are, however, borderline. So I'm going to have to make some changes in my diet to make sure that I don't progress into diabetes later on in the pregnancy. Let's hope that diet changes/ exercise do the trick and I won't have to worry about that.

So for now, things seem to be progressing fine!
